What made you decide to become an interior designer?

The design industry has always consumed me. I have explored several different components from Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Architecture and I have found with Interior Design, it allows me to incorporate so many different design elements into my day-to-day practice and the power that transforming a space can have on your life.

What is your own personal favourite style?

Coastal Australiana – I love the use of organic textures and shapes combined with the soft warm neutral colours of the natural environment. And when these are paired with the harmonious hues of the Australian coastline, a sense of peace is created. I am heavily influenced by my surroundings and where I have travelled around the world. The natural environment and its beauty really captures my imagination and inspires not only the interior designer in me but also guides my core values.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not at work?

Heading down to the Mornington Peninsula where my family is and escaping the city life. Trail running and walks with my husband, combining with relaxing yoga in my down time. Enjoying a long Sunday brunch with friends and family.

Do you have any interior design tips that may help people start from scratch?

Start with creating your own moodboard. This will help you establish what style and key elements you love and want to introduce into your space. This will also encourage you to explore alternative schemes that you may not have really explored before.

What made you decide to become an interior designer?

I have always had a creative side since a young age and also come from a very artistic family. Growing up as a dancer and having the opportunity to travel the world dancing really opened my eyes to Interior Design in different countries which really sparked my interest and passion for Interior Design.

What is your own personal favourite style?

My favourite styles are Contemporary, Minimalism and Scandinavian. I enjoy taking hints of these styles to create a unique look.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not at work?

Outside my work, I enjoy heading up to the river to camp, going snowboarding through the winter months and spending nights in playing board games with my family.

Do you have any interior design tips that may help people start from scratch?

My Interior Design tips would be to be brave enough to be yourself and not just follow trends because its fashionable and also don’t be afraid of texture.

What made you decide to become an interior designer?

I grew up as a very creative and visual person, spending two years studying film and television before I found my love for set design, and thus, interior design. I decided to become an interior designer when I realized what the impact colour, form and texture could do to a space. I love exploring the different ways that these elements can express oneself and set a specific mood using elements of design to represent clients personalities.

What is your own personal favourite style?

My favourite styles are a combination of Scandinavian and Glam/Luxe. I love the comfort and warmth that the Scandinavian design has, yet with elements of glamour and luxury.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?

I love Ice Skating, and whilst that has been on hold recently; spending time with family, friends and my dogs are my favorite things to do alongside gaming, mixology, and good café breakfasts.

Do you have any interior design tips that may help people start from scratch?

Have a look in your wardrobe and think about how you would describe your taste in clothing. The colours and styles and materials that you feel most comfortable wearing often can be used as a starting point to discover your design style. Do you love wearing bold colours or neutrals? Glamorous jewels or quirky accessories? After you’ve done this jump on to Pinterest and Instagram – these will come your best friends when preparing for your new home.
