Why our new homes are better than ever

Embracing the Future: The Benefits of the New National Construction Code for Burbank Homes

The construction industry is constantly evolving, and at Burbank Homes, we are committed to staying at the forefront of these changes. The recent adoption of the new National Construction Code (NCC) across several states has brought about significant improvements in the standards of home building. Here, we delve into the benefits of these changes and how they enhance the quality of our homes.

Elevated Energy Efficiency

The new building code also places a strong emphasis on energy efficiency. This means that new homes will now be designed and built to reduce energy costs and improve the comfort of living.

With the implementation of these standards, new homes are expected to be significantly more energy-efficient than established properties. This translates to lower energy bills, a reduced carbon footprint, and a more sustainable future. At Burbank Homes, we are excited to incorporate these standards into our designs, offering homes that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also environmentally friendly.

Improved Accessibility: Silver Liveability Standards (excluding NSW)

One of the key changes in the new building code is the introduction of the Silver Liveability Standards. This new standard ensures that homes are designed and built with improved accessibility, promoting inclusivity and comfortable living for all.

Whether it's wider doorways for wheelchair access, framing for future install of grab rails, or step-free showers for safer use, these standards consider the diverse needs of homeowners. At Burbank Homes, we believe that everyone deserves a home that is not only beautiful but also functional and inclusive.

Condensation and Waterproofing Improvements

Lastly, the NCC has adopted improved standards for condensation management and waterproofing. These changes aim to reduce the occurrence of mould and water issues in homes, ensuring the longevity of the property and the health of its occupants.

By implementing these standards, we can offer homes that require less maintenance and provide a healthier living environment. This is just another way Burbank Homes is committed to delivering quality homes that stand the test of time.

At Burbank Homes, we welcome the changes brought about by the new NCC. We believe that these improvements will greatly enhance the quality, comfort, and sustainability of our homes. As we continue to build homes for the future, we remain committed to embracing changes that benefit our homeowners and the environment. With the new NCC, we are excited to step into a future of improved standards and better homes.

The next Construction Code updates are currently scheduled for 2025, which will see further development of standards for the new home industry. Electrification of new homes, allowing for future electric car chargers to be installed, and further condensation management requirements to limit mould - are all up for public review and consultation.

This evolution of the Construction Code over time is all guided to meet Australia’s net zero carbon emissions goal by 2050, as well as improving the overall living standards for all Australians.
