How long does it take to build a new home?

There are a lot of things that can affect how long it takes to build a home.

We know that the only thing you really want is to be handed over your keys and to move into your brand new home - and that's definitely what we at Burbank want for you too.

There are lots of things that can affect how long it takes to build a home. Depending on when your land titles and the type of home design you choose. Then, once hitting the build process other uncontrollable elements may come into play such as weather, trade and supply availability, through to site conditions. Although trust us, we are just as eager as you to build your home as quickly as possible.

While all builders can’t give you a definitive answer on how long the build will take due to these uncontollable circumstances, at Burbank we will provide you with proposed completion date of your build. We also keep you regularlly updated along the way and have a exclusive customer app that allows you to track your build and see photo updates. Find out more about our exclusive customer app here.

In the meatime if you choose to build with Burbank, it's helpful to understand what needs to happen before we lay the slab and what happens after. There are also some items that are within your control to make sure the process goes as smoothly as possible. See below.

Before you start to see your home being built.

If your site is accessible, our Engineers will use borelogs and surveys to provide recommendations which allow us to fix your siteworks and footings costs.

Our office team will prepare more detailed plans and costings for presentation of your New Home Proposal. Once you signed your plans and pricing you’ll progress to Selections and Contract stages.

Selections and Contract

We will schedule your Selections appointment in our Burbank Edge Selections Studio and your Interior Designer will take you through your internal and external selections. Once this is done we can finalise your contract and prepare your Bank Pack which will be sent to your chosen financier. We’ll also introduce to the MyPlace app where you can see all your build information and eventually get to see your home come to life.

Land Confirmation and Planning Approval

We’ll ask you for the Certificate of Title on your land which we’ll need for Planning Approval then we’ll look at the planning related aspects of your new home. These will include a Private Certifier giving approval of the technical specifications and going to Council for with the Building Rules Consent for issuing of Development Approval.

Updating your Financier and Signing of Final Drawings

We’ll send the Approval documentation and any contract variations to your chosen financier. Then you can check and sign your construction drawings. Once your block is ready to build on, we can get started on the exciting bit.

Now your new home is ready to be built.
