(and our expert answers…)
How long does it take to save for a deposit?
This is completely dependent on your in-comings and outgoings sweet friend! Deposits are typically 10-20% of the cost of your selected home, so you’ll need roughly that, PLUS the ability to ‘service the loan’ (the ability to pay off your mortgage at a steady rate through a full-time job etc.). OR perhaps you have glorious savings yet no steady income? If you sit in the latter category, then you may not be able to receive the loan you seek…

Don’t forget that you’ll also need land to pop your home on – it just makes sense. But how does one get land? And is it possible to get a home on land in some kind of incredibly organised package? Of course it is puddin’ - so very glad you asked.
How do I buy land?
In certain parts of Australia, securing a patch of land to call your own is not that easy. Sure we have lots of it, but there are hefty delays on land titling in some regions, which means you may purchase the land, but it may not be ready to be built on for another 18 months. In terms of buying land, it’s a good idea to do your research and shortlist the suburbs you can see yourself planting your roots, while also taking into account your budget and the affordability of the desired regions. Then, visiting land sales offices in estates and signing up to receive updates, all while keeping a keen eye on property websites is a great way to remain in the loop with the prices and locations of developing land.
Is it better to buy home and land separately or together?
Now we are getting interesting! One of the benefits of building with Burbank is our selection of affordable, well located home and land packages. This places one of our finely crafted home designs on perfectly collected land for one price, rather than two. But why would you opt for this? Well, Burbank’s home and land packages allow you to lock in the price of the home at the time you purchase the package, making the most of any promotions, instead of watching prices inevitably rise as you wait for your land to title (should you have purchased it separately). Further, our packages are created by an expert house and land team who have selected locations based on their livability, connectivity and good price. View our current packages in VIC, SA, NSW/ACT and QLD.
How do I choose a builder?
You should definitely weigh up your options and do your research to find the builder that will work with the restraints of your budget, the needs of your lifestyle and who have home designs in the style you love! To figure out exactly which builder is best for you, start with some website scoping, followed by display stalking, polished off with a friendly chat with a New Home Consultant (or sales consultant).
As the experts on home designs and their prices, they’ll immediately take the confusion away from the selection process, narrowing down the homes suitable to you in a matter of minutes.
Why choose a volume builder?
Volume builders are a fabulous choice for the overwhelmed, the on-a-budget, the investors, the first homebuyers, the upscale-rs and the downsizers- what we’re saying is, volume builders are a great choice for every buyer.
Volume builders buy their materials in bulk, meaning they can manage to create more affordably priced homes- ideal for today's buyers. Their process is also fine-tuned and you’ll be working with a team who know exactly how to create your dream home, because we’ve done it so many times before.

How expensive are houses?
It varies petal! It really varies. At Burbank, our cheapest home starts from less than $200K, but floorplans vary in expense depending on their features and inclusions. You can also buy a seemingly ‘cheap’ home, and deck it out with all of the upgrades of your dreams, which will bump up the price.
Where are the best spots in Australia to build?
Generally, the further you are from the city, the more affordable the land. In recent years, we’ve seen suburbs in Victoria like Werribee and Clyde skyrocket in terms of their development, while in New South Wales, Leppington, Oran Park, Box Hill and the Hunter/Central Coast are each developing.
Jimboomba, South Ripley, Mango Hill and Greenbank in Queensland are currently impressing, while Blakes Crossing is our pick for hot property in South Australia.

Should I visit a display home before I choose my home?
Got you! Of course you should.
Strolling through displays and getting a feel for the type of home you like (and styling) is a fabulous way of ensuring the design you select is perfect for your lifestyle. Even if you aren’t looking at buying a home, display homes are notoriously gorgeous, flaunting every builder’s best plus exquisite interior design. At the very least, you can steal some design ideas!
